A New Home for The Stuart Low Trust – and relaunch of Friday evening events

SLT has a new home!   Our office and Friday Evening Events will move to a new community hub, along with three other charities, this autumn.  We will be based at the newly renovated Jean Stokes Community Centre, off Caledonian Road.

We are excited to welcome you back to face-to-face activities.  At the same time, we care about your safety and so we will continue some measures for Covid.  See more about this below.

Booking for our face-to-face activities is currently essential as places are limited.   Please email info@slt.org.uk or telephone 020 7713 9304.

Friday Evening Events

We are delighted to announce the long-awaited return of our Friday Evening Events. Our programme kicks off on Friday 7th October at 6.30pm at Jean Stokes Community Centre, off Caledonian Road.

All SLT’s friendly staff team will be there running Friday evening activities in person.   We will offer food and entertainment again – and more good news is that venue is bigger with better facilities!

We are operating a no booking necessary policy for the time being, for Friday Evening events only, but this will be kept under review to ensure social distancing measures are maintained as much as possible.

Participants will be asked to arrive for Friday Evenings by 7pm at the latest, or their place may be given away as we will have a waiting list.

Find out more about our Friday Evening Events here.

Saturday Wellbeing Workshops

We will continue to run a hybrid programme of online and face-to-face wellbeing workshops on a Saturday.  When you book, please make sure you are aware if the workshop is taking place via Zoom, or face-to-face.  For now, these workshops will continue to take place at Mildmay Community Centre, but we hope to move these to Jean Stokes Community Centre in the New Year.  We will keep you updated!

How do I book?

Booking for our face-to-face activities is essential as places are limited (with the current exception of Friday Evening Events).   Please email info@slt.org.uk or telephone 020 7713 9304.

The Friday evening events will take place at our new venue.  Our Saturday workshops will remain at Mildmay Community Centre for now. We ask participants to book in advance to attend for all our workshops (except Friday Evenings), for now, as numbers indoors will be limited, to maintain social distancing.  Extra safety measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of our participants, volunteers and staff.

Volunteering Opportunities

Would you like to volunteer for our face-to-face activities at Friday evening events and Saturday wellbeing workshops?  There are lots of opportunities to help on Fridays in reception, the kitchen or in other ways at SLT activities. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Rosie at info@slt.org.uk

Covid Safety Measures

SLT has put in place new, face-to-face safety measures for our new home.  THANK YOU in advance for adhering to these measures and for your cooperation and understanding.

We want to welcome you warmly to our face-to-face activities and will be doing everything we can to ensure that these measures are handled in a sensitive and thoughtful way.

Before coming to SLT activities

  • Booking in advance (where necessary)

Please book for our face-to-face activities in advance.  We have set a maximum number of participants per activity to ensure your safety.

  • Cold or flu symptoms

Covid symptoms are known now to appear similar to regular cold or flu symptoms – for example a blocked or runny nose, sore throat, high temperature or coughing.  If you are experiencing any of these symptoms in consideration of other participants’ health, we ask that you don’t attend SLT activities until these symptoms subside.

On your arrival at activities

  • Temperature Checks

For everyone’s safety to reduce the risk of spreading Covid, on arrival and before entering the venue you will be required to undergo a temperature check – via a non-contact method.    If your temperature is high, unfortunately, you will not be permitted to enter or take part in the activity.  It is advisable you go straight home and rest until you feel well again.

During activities

  • Hand Sanitiser

Hand sanitiser will be available on arrival and throughout the activity.  We ask all participants entering the venue to use hand sanitiser.

  • Face Masks

Wearing a Face Mask/Face Shield is optional for participants.

  • Social Distancing

We ask all participants to social distance, at least 1m apart at all times during the activity.  SLT chairs will be spread out by SLT staff.  We ask you not to move them or move closer to another person, even if you attended with them.  Any tables used will be set up spaced apart.

  • Food and drinks

Where SLT is offering food or drinks at activities, we will make sure that these are provided in a way to avoid any risk of spreading infection.  We ask that you follow our guidance at SLT activities for food and drinks.

  • Ventilation

SLT staff will be keeping doors and windows open where possible, to allow good ventilation.  We appreciate your cooperation in not requesting them to be closed, they need to stay open.  Instead, please come prepared with something warmer to wear, if you feel the cold.

  • What to do if you feel unwell during the activity:

If you feel unwell during the event, please alert the SLT host or group facilitator for assistance.

If you have any questions about SLT’s Covid-19 Safety Measures for Participants, please email info@slt.org.uk or phone 020 7713 9304.
