Stuart Low Trust - Choir Tutor: Maternity cover (1 year)

One in four of us will experience a mental health problem at some point in our lives. Through social therapeutic activities, SLT supports people living with or recovering from mental illness, who are also socially isolated. SLT is inclusive; all are welcome. We are looking for tutor to cover a one-year period of maternity leave, from January 2022. You will lead our Thursday (term time only) acapella choir on Zoom to start with, then, when SLT deems it safe to return, at a venue near Archway tube in London.

Our choir is unique. It is a community group where some quite good singers and musicians are mixed with some tone deaf but determined participants, and many in between. One of the pleasures of the group is that participants feel challenged by the musical expectations, the harmonies and rhythms, yet realise that they can both meet those challenges and improve individually and as a choir.

If you have experience of running a choir and have a mature, empathic disposition, and feel enthusiastic about supporting vulnerable adults as they learn the techniques of singing (on Zoom presently, returning to face to face when safe), this may be the role for you.
