What we do
We provide social environments where people can make friends and feel part of a wider community. Through our activities we aim to combat isolation and physical and mental health problems.
The activities we currently run are:
A free Friday Evening Event, running 52 weeks a year, offering the opportunity to socialise, good food and a presentation or workshop on a different topic each week. Events are hosted by session workers, helped by volunteers, and attract between 45 and 60 people each week – and sometimes more!
Monthly walks and outings to places of interest, including museums, parks and historic London landmarks.
A Sunday Philosophy Forum, led by students and teachers from Cambridge and other universities.
Narrowboat holidays and trips throughout the summer months. These respite breaks attract up to 50 individual participants a year.
A weekly Gardening Project at Culpeper Community Gardens.
Life and work skills courses, to help people develop the confidence to think about volunteering or moving back into work.
Our activities provide opportunities for volunteering from our participants and people from the local community.
We produce a bi-monthly events flyer, which is sent out free of charge by post and e-mail.
No formal arrangements are necessary to attend our regular events – just come along and check us out!
