SLT Awarded PQASSO Quality Mark

The Stuart Low Trust has been awarded the Charities Evaluation Services PQASSO quality mark.

PQASSO is the leading quality standard developed for the third sector, by the third sector, and is used by charities, social enterprises, community interest companies and community groups of all sizes, from those (like SLT) with a handful of employees, to organisations with over 2,000 staff, as an indicator that they have demonstrated a nationally recognised standard for project planning, participant involvement, accounting, office procedures and compliance with charity law.

SLT joins a select band of just over 100 organisations who have been externally accredited by PQASSO. More widely, over 14,000 organisations have made PQASSO their standard of choice.

SLT wins London Health Commission Award

The Stuart Low Trust has been recognised in the prestigious London Health Commission 2010 Health and well-being awards.

The awards are designed to note the achievements of small community based groups at the forefront of improving the health of Londoners.

SLT’s award, in the Mental well-being category, was in recognition of our monthly programme of outings to places of interest across London. The awards ceremony took place at City Hall on Monday 20 September and was attended by London Mayor Boris Johnson.

The award was presented by Patrick McGhee, Vice Chancellor of the University of East London, and was accepted by a group of the trust’s volunteers. Accompanying the award is a cheque for £1,000, plus a further £500 to be spent on IT equipment.

“We are delighted to have had our programme of outings recognised in this way” said SLT Chair Virginia Low. “The walks are a wonderful way of bringing people together to enjoy the sights of London, get some gentle exercise and share a healthy picnic lunch. It is often the first time many participants have visited some of the famous London landmarks. On a recent outing, one man told us that it was the first time he had left his flat in five years.”

SLT was also shortlisted in the Cohesive Communities category, making us the only organisation to be nominated in two categories.

More details about the Health and well-being awards can be viewed on the London Health Commission’s website.
